THE FACTS
It is a known fact that our current population in the U.S. consists of 1% to 3% homosexuals at most, not 10%. Unquestionably the vast majority of people have accepted marriage as between one man and one woman for thousands of years. However, activists who are trying to change and redefine marriage are demanding the majority of the population change their values and beliefs to please the minority.

Furthermore, to impose this law on our nation would effect many areas:

  • Schools would be required to teach this as an alternative lifestyle weather parents agree or not. Parents and children's views are not as important as homosexual marriage.

  • Corporations would be required to extend the same benefits as a spouse.

  • Laws would eventually be changed allowing adoption of children by homosexual couples. Currently there is no evidence that homosexuals could have any positive effects on children, however studies do show that a father and mother influence children dramatically.

The fact that homosexuals love each other is no reason to allow marriage. What about all the other groups that love each other. This would open up marriage between children and adults, relatives involved in incest, even 2 or 3 or 4 people.

Most important of all, homosexual acts hurt and kill people. The worst thing we can do from a public policy perspective is to encourage behavior that destroys our citizens. Undoubtedly, common sense tells us that a nation will not survive very long if it encourages its people to engage in harmful behavior. It would only encourage more risky behavior.

REASONS TO OPPOSE SAMESEX MARRIAGE AND DENOMINATIONS THAT SUPORT SAMESEX MARRIAGE

    • Homosexual acts hurt and kill people. The worst thing we can do from a public policy perspective is to encourage behavior that destroys our citizens.
      .
    • Snowball effect of current laws on insurance rates, adoption, sex education in public schools etc.
      .
    • Homosexuals are free to hold their own ceremonies, but when they bring the law into it, they force everyone into it and anyone disagreeing with the policy would be denounced as a "bigot."
      .
    • Homosexual couples are not the same as a husband and wife. To say they are is to claim that men and women are the same, with no appreciable differences, which is crazy.

STATES AND SAME SEX MARRIAGE LAWS

VERMONT FIRST STATE WITH CIVIL UNION LAW: Legislatures go against the will of the people and pass "Civil Union" law!

In December, the state Supreme Court ordered the legislature to extend full marital benefits to same-sex couples, whether or not lawmakers termed it "marriage." Four months later, Vermont became the first state in the nation to approve so-called "civil unions" for homosexuals, with all the benefits of marriage.

  • WHAT WENT WRONG IN VERMONT?
  • ARE ANY LEGISLATURE SEATS IN DANGER?
  • WILL THIS LAW BE USED TO CHALLENGE TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE LAWS IN OTHER STATES?

CALIFORNIA IS UNDER ATTACK
Six anti-family, pro-homosexual bills were presented to the California State Assembly. So far 3 are dead and 3 are still in process. Four of these bills equate homosexual partnerships with marriage in varying degrees, undermining Proposition 22 by using different terminology.

  • AB 2211 (Sheila Kuehl): Gives domestic partners many of the rights of marriage, and also provides recognition of domestic partnerships created in other states, which includes Vermont's civil unions.BILL WAS KILLED
  • AB 2047 (Darrel Steinberg): Provides that a domestic partner is legally the same as a surviving spouse for intestate succession (the receiving of inheritances outside a will or trust).-BILL WAS KILLED
  • AB 1990 (Gloria Romero): Authorizes a domestic partner to make medical decisions for the other partner.- BILL WAS KILLED
  • AB 2421 (Carol Migden): Awards spousal benefits to same-sex domestic partners in many areas, including some employment benefits. BILL PASSED THE ASSEMBLY, AWAITING FIRST COMMITTEE IN SENATE

Two other bills would force the gay agenda on children in public school systems.

  • AB1785 (Antonio Villaraigosa) -- Provides teaching children homosexual curriculum under the guise of hate crime education. It's stated purpose is to break the cycle of intolerance by discouraging the development of discriminatory attitudes and practices. It squashes pro-family speech on campuses by defining a hate motivated incident as an expression of hostility against sexual orientation. This would include literature, posters or leaflets that oppose homosexuality.-BILL PASSED THE ASSEMBLY, AWAITING FIRST COMMITTEE IN SENATE
  • AB1931 (Jack Scott) -- Provides 2 million in taxpayer funded "tolerance" fieldtrips, for students and teachers which could include pro-homosexual conventions and pro-gay youth conferences. It also forces taxpayers to give 150,000 to an undisclosed tolerance organization to advise school administrators. BILL PASSED THE ASSEMBLY, AWAITING FIRST COMMITTEE IN SENATE
